How to Brew Whole Lotus Flowers

What You'll Need

  • 1–2 whole lotus flowers
  • 250–300 ml fresh filtered water
  • A teapot or tea infusere or your favourite tea glass
  • Optional: honey, fresh ginger or lemon

Step 1 – Create Your Ritual

Take a moment for yourself. Light a candle, dim the lights or simply take a few deep breaths before preparing your tea.

Step 2 – Heat the Water

Bring fresh water to a boil and allow it to cool slightly until it reaches 80–90°C. A temperature of around 85°C is ideal for preserving the delicate floral notes while preventing bitterness.

Step 3 – Add the Flowers

Place one or two whole lotus flowers into your teapot or infuser. You may gently loosen the petals to help release their natural aroma.

Step 4 – Steep

Pour the water over the flowers and allow them to steep for 8–10 minutes.
For a richer infusion, steep for up to 15 minutes.

Step 5 – Enjoy

Take a moment to appreciate the aroma before your first sip.
Lotus tea is best enjoyed slowly, allowing every cup to become part of your personal ritual.
